Boni Vino, located right underneath the L, is a tough little place with a little attitude, but the food is good and decently inexpensive. There are two large dining sections and an extensive bar. The speakers in the second room can get a bit loud at times, but it is warmer in the second room since the door is in the first partition. The upstairs contains the bathrooms and an office. The bathrooms are decently clean, but an old reusable towel left me wiping my hands on my jeans.
Food ranges from $4 (appetizers) to $15 (large pizza). An extensive list of appetizers include all of the Italian favorites such as mozzarella cheesesticks and garlic bread. One of the better appetizers is the tomato bread that tops Italian bread with chunks of tomato and lots of garlic and mozzarella cheese, all toasted.
The pizza is thin crusted and the toppings list is extensive containing many different peppers as well as chopped garlic and spinach. There's also many sandwiches and salads. The steak hoagie is well priced, especially if you opt for the deal, which includes cheese and french fries for barely $5. The chicken fettuccini is a little on the plain side and the sausage was a little overcooked, but they replaced the sausage at no extra charge. Sauces are zesty, but not too spicy and taste homemade with added ground beef. The pasta selection is extensive, and if not intimidatedby the roughness of its character, Boni Vino can be quite charming. (Teralyn Iscrupe)
